Thailand makes history by hosting its first-ever FIVB Women`s Volleyball World Championship. The 20th edition of this prestigious tournament officially commenced today with a vibrant opening ceremony held at Bangkok`s Huamark Indoor Stadium.
This championship also marks another significant milestone as Southeast Asia welcomes a Volleyball World Championship for the very first time in the sport`s history. An esteemed FIVB delegation, led by President Fabio Azevedo, attended the inaugural event alongside prominent Thai officials, including Sorawong Thienthong, the Minister of Tourism and Sports, and Dr. Kongsak Yodmanee, Governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand.
The competition is scheduled to run from August 22 to September 7, with matches being hosted across four distinctive Thai cities: Bangkok, Nakhon Ratchasima, Chiang Mai, and Phuket, each promising to add its unique cultural flair to the event.
Coinciding with the opening ceremony, the «Volleyball Experience» fan zone was inaugurated at the Sports Authority of Thailand complex, situated right next to the Huamark Indoor Stadium. This interactive zone will remain open throughout the competition, offering engaging activities suitable for all ages and aiming to bring supporters closer to the excitement of the sport.
The Volleyball Experience provides an exceptional opportunity for all fans, whether they hold tickets to the matches or not, to test their skills in volleyball and sitting volleyball using interactive equipment, participate in friendly games on mini courts, and immerse themselves in the rich and vibrant culture of Thailand.
The inaugural day of the World Championships served to highlight the robust collaboration between the FIVB and Thailand in orchestrating this landmark edition of the Women`s World Championship. It also powerfully showcased Thailand`s deep-seated passion for volleyball, signaling a promising new chapter in the sport`s global development and reach.

Tailandia hace historia al ser sede por primera vez del Campeonato Mundial Femenino de Voleibol FIVB. La 20ª edición de este prestigioso torneo comenzó oficialmente hoy con una vibrante ceremonia de apertura celebrada en el Estadio Cubierto Huamark de Bangkok.
Este campeonato también marca otro hito significativo, ya que el Sudeste Asiático acoge un Campeonato Mundial de Voleibol por primera vez en la historia de este deporte. Una distinguida delegación de la FIVB, encabezada por su Presidente Fabio Azevedo, asistió al evento inaugural junto a destacadas autoridades tailandesas, incluyendo a Sorawong Thienthong, Ministro de Turismo y Deportes, y al Dr. Kongsak Yodmanee, Gobernador de la Autoridad Deportiva de Tailandia.
La competición está programada para desarrollarse del 22 de agosto al 7 de septiembre, con partidos que se disputarán en cuatro ciudades tailandesas distintas: Bangkok, Nakhon Ratchasima, Chiang Mai y Phuket, cada una prometiendo añadir su toque cultural único al evento.

Esta zona interactiva permanecerá abierta durante toda la competición, ofreciendo actividades atractivas adecuadas para todas las edades y con el objetivo de acercar a los aficionados a la emoción del deporte.
