The opening ceremony was a vibrant fusion of traditional and modern Filipino culture. Performances by the Ramon Obusan Folkloric Group celebrated Philippine heritage, while the Buganda Drumline and Dancers brought rhythmic energy. Local pop artists G22 and Karencitta entertained the crowd, with Karencitta performing the championship`s official theme song. A colorful parade of flags proudly introduced all participating nations.
The South Korean K-pop group BOYNEXTDOOR concluded the ceremony with an electrifying performance that got the audience on their feet, providing a spectacular close to the evening before the volleyball matches commenced.
Patrick C. Gregorio, Chairman of the Philippine Sports Commission, delivered welcoming remarks, emphasizing the significant national support for this unprecedented event as the Philippines hosts the Men`s World Championship for the first time.

Before the inaugural match, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos stepped onto the court to perform the ceremonial serve, officially commencing the tournament. They were accompanied by their sons Joseph Simon and William Vincent, the latter serving as co-chairperson of the competition’s Local Organising Committee (LOC).
The Philippine men’s national team then took to the court for their much-anticipated World Championship debut, facing Tunisia in Pool A. The experienced North African team secured a 3-0 victory (25-13, 25-17, 25-23). Despite the loss, the host nation, buoyed by fervent crowd support, showed great spirit, particularly in a closely contested third set, marking a spirited introduction to volleyball’s grandest stage.
The tournament continues at the SM Mall of Asia Arena and Smart Araneta Coliseum in Manila until September 28, when the final match will decide if Italy retains its title or if a new champion will be crowned.

Este evento marca más de dos semanas de intensa competición con 32 equipos nacionales y un hito histórico para Filipinas, que no solo acoge el campeonato sino que también hace su debut en el torneo.
La ceremonia de apertura fue una vibrante fusión de cultura filipina tradicional y moderna. Las actuaciones del Grupo Folclórico Ramon Obusan celebraron el patrimonio filipino, mientras que el Buganda Drumline and Dancers aportaron energía rítmica. A pesar de la derrota, la nación anfitriona, animada por el ferviente apoyo del público, mostró un gran espíritu, especialmente en un tercer set muy reñido, marcando una enérgica introducción al escenario más grande del voleibol.
